getting older

today is my birthday and so far, the day has been good until…

just a few moments ago, my mom called me and first thing she said was “hang on.” the next sound i heard were the voices of about twenty 8 year olds singing happy birthday to me. my mom’s 3rd grade was on the other end. it was the cutest thing! what a great birthday surprise! they finished singing and my mom said to me, “tell the class how old you are today.” “today i am 28,” i said. then, the sweetest little voice screamed at the top of her lungs with extreme excitement to be able to identify with me and said, “that’s how old my mom is!!!”  i nearly died. 28… really? old enough to be your mom? wow. getting older is so neat.

next thing on the list to do:

start having kids before i’m really too old.
